INTERACTION OF A HEARING IMPAIRED CHILD WITH HER IMMEDIATE...

CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION Structure and Rationale of the Study To communicate is to satisfy man’s individual need for social, emotional, and human development. Communication is considered a basic human need for people cannot not communicate. We all need to communicate to develop our full potentials. These potentialities, however, are being held up in the case of the hearing-impaired people. They are not able to develop their full potentials for their faculty of understanding is also impaired. They have the special need of having other means of communicating. They are in need of a medium that would help them express and communicate what is on their minds. Concisely, they need to engage in communication activities that would†¦show more content†¦People’s beliefs and actions are largely influenced by the society. Hence, the hearing-impaired might have the same meanings as ours for we are all part of the same society. However, because of the discrepancies on communication patterns and social interactions, there might be some differences on what we see as meaningful to what they perceive as meaningful. Hence, the way they perceive and learn symbols and their corresponding meanings may be different from or similar to us. Their patterns of communication and realities mi ght be different from ours as well. Thus, the need to interpret the actions and beliefs of a person from the group of hearing-impaired would help us somehow understand their group in general and the effects of their impairment to shared meanings. By interpreting the overt behaviors and actions of a deaf, explanation of other underlying concepts on meaning-making process and sign system formation (Denzin, Lincoln, 1994) can be provided. However, this study sought not to generalize the phenomena of the hearing-impaired population but to make the reader understand the phenomena as seen and described by the researcher – me. Symbolic interactionism is the lens of the study for better portrayal and understanding of the meaning-making process. Symbolic interaction is perceived as the communication theory of human behavior (Faules and Alexander, 1978) as it highlights the significanceShow MoreRelatedStephen P. Robbins Timothy A. Engage with the Relevant Community and Stakeholders

Question: Discuss about theEngage with the Relevant Community and Stakeholders. Answer: Introduction One of the projects I got involved in was that of designing and fabricating Transportation and Storage Container (TSC), which was known as Cocoon. The container was to be used for shipping gas turbines to remote sites where they could be safely stored before being installed for a particular application. The owner/client of the project was Oil Search. Oil Search provided the specifications of the Cocoon, which was designed by a vendor. As an engineer involved in the fabrication process of the Cocoon, I noticed that the Cocoon did not have third party certification. This certification is required before performing strength and load analysis of the Cocoon so as to provide a design verification statement confirming the lifting capability of the various lifting components of the Cocoon and its overall stiffness. Lack of third party certification was a violation of engineering code of ethics. Proceeding with fabrication of the Cocoon without third party certification was putting the health, safety and wellbeing of those who will be using the Cocoon and others at risk. The manufactured Cocoon would also not be accepted in the market because of not attaining required standards and therefore Oil Search would incur great losses. To solve this issue and make necessary changes, I made several consultations with key stakeholders, including the project manager, Oil Search representative, engineering team, fabrication vendor, third party design consultant and subject matter experts. I called all these stakeholders in a meeting and we agreed upon on how to ensure that the design of Cocoon got verified by third party vendor. This process resulted to delay in manufacturing process so I had to inform relevant stakeholders to extend the delivery date of the Cocoon. Following this issue, I also involved relevant stakeholders in discussing various approaches of mitigating personal injury, environmental damage during transportation, and other likelihoods of safety hazards. All these were aimed at ensuring that the safety, health and wellbeing of persons involved in the manufacture of the Cocoon, its packaging, transportation (and other road users), storage and use was not compromised in any way or whatsoever. Another project that I got involved in is where the client Santos Ltd (Santos) had initiated the CO2 Removal and Utilities Expansion Project at its Moomba Gas Plant as part of the Cooper Infrastructure Expansion Program (CIEP). The project consisted of retrofit/modification to existing Gas Turbine Alternator (GTA#2) installed in Moomba processing plant. I consulted all relevant stakeholders so as to understand the plant operations and maintenance. In a series of meetings I chaired, I focused on identifying some of the challenges that stakeholders were facing when operating GTA#2. I used the feedback I received to come up with some requirements which I included in the contract order with the vendor. During the meetings, several issues were discussed as being obstacles to accessing different components during maintenance. To solve this problem, I discussed with the vendor to identify some of the options we could use to relocate the enclosure support when the gearbox housing was removed from the package. I ensured that all relevant stakeholders received records of the meeting minutes and discussions and played their part in ensuring that all safety aspects of the project were covered. I also realized that some components of the facility were underperforming due to harsh environmental conditions. For instance, the lube oil cooler required frequent maintenance because of these conditions. I discussed this with the stakeholders and it was agreed to replace the lube oil cooler with a more efficient equipment lube oil cooler. After reviewing the technical details of the proposed lube oil cooler, the vendor was mandated to supply it. In the process, I realized that the lube oil cooler data sheet that the vendor submitted did not meet the client requirements. I immediately informed the vendor to check and make necessary corrections. In this project, I ensured that safety of workers on site was not compromised. I checked all equipment and processes used to ensure that foreseeable hazards were eliminated or mitigated. This helped in protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of employees on site, nearby residents and the environment. Therefore I played a role in preventing damages, injuries, fatalities and losses.

One year later, in 1 955, West Germany entered the alliance, based on the face that without Germanys manpower it would be impossible to field enough forces to resist a Soviet invasion. One good turn deserves another. O the immediate and formal response was the creation of the Warsaw pact signed by Soviet Union, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Albania, Romania, Poland, Bulgaria and of course East Germany. President of France from 1 958 onwards, Charles De Gaulle, protested the United States role as too strong and therefore send a memorandum to President Eisenhower where he argued for a tripartite directorate.Considering that he would get a negative response he took following actions: Building of an independent defense of his country Also he step-by-step removed all French troops from NATO command In 1959 he withdrew all Mediterranean Fleets from NATO command Also stationing foreign nuclear weapons was banned by De Gaulle Removed all Handel fleets from NATO command All armed French forces were removed from NATO command -? and all non- French NATO troop s were asked to leave France.Dtenet On 1 July 1 968, the Nuclear Non-Proliferation opened for signature: NATO argued that its nuclear sharing arrangements did not breach the treaty, since U. And this was matching defenses at the level rendered by the Warsaw paces capabilities but without spurring an arms race. Escalation There were tension between the Soviet Union and the US, so NATO decided to deploy Perishing II and cruise missiles primarily in West Germany.NATO maneuvered a simulating nuclear launch in November 1983, which caused panic in Kremlin(Russians). Now the Soviet union concerned that this was the beginning of a genuine first strike. So, in response, they readied air units in East Germany and Poland on alert. Post Cold War After the Cold War and the dissolution of the Warsaw pact in 1991 Antas main adversary was removed. So, this caused a re-evaluation of Natty repose. Any. N. Ray, in practice this ended up being a (still ongoing) expansion of NATO to Eastern Europe.

Computerization of a Company essays The word ubiquitous means ever present or occurring everywhere. This term could be used to describe the use of the computer in the business. The business worlds benefit alone is enough to make a head spin. Every time a person goes to the grocery store, the bank, the local ATM, or even the neighborhood gym the benefit by the use of computers in modern society is unforeseen by most civilians. Many fields in business depend on the convenience, speed, accuracy, and reliability that computers have become known for. However all companies small and large benefit from the use of computers. First a company must research the impact computers will have on keeping track of there accounts. Then they must choose the correct hardware and software to best suit their particular needs, while at the same time making themselves familiar with the new enhancements that increase productivity. Finally, the company must allow time for installation and training. When evaluating the need for a computerized system in a company one will also need to forecast the future demands of the company. After all to survive in the business world one must anticipate the future and not react to the past. How does one know when it is time to make the critical transition? It is when management finds itself unable to keep track of its business? Which products are profitable? Which are not? Which customers pay on time? Which are delinquent? Having easy access to this data is essential to running a healthy and competitive business. When the company has grown enough that management no longer has access to the data used to make informed decisions, then it is time to switch to a computerized data management system. These computerized data management systems are often called information systems. The company now has two choices. It can either hire a professional consulting firm to help select and install the computer system, or venture out on its own to make these i mportant de...

Principles of Pathology Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Principles of Pathology - Essay Example Clinical pathology deals with the laboratory analysis of the disease through examining the bodily fluids such as blood. Laboratory testing is a common way to diagnose a disease thus clinical pathology is commonly used in hospitals. Molecular pathology is also a similar type which examines the diseases through molecular analysis. It is usually practiced to cover those diseases that have strange causes or are genetic (Woolf, 1998, p. 17). General pathology is a wide term which describes the scientific aspect of diagnosing diseases. It is a wide term that covers all the specialist features of pathology. The scientific aspect talks about the mechanisms of the cell during the disease process. This includes the injury and the effects on the cells, along with the body’s functions to repair these cells. The rupture and infections caused to cells is investigated to diagnose the disease, and in regard to the treatment of the disease, these cells are treated and repaired. The study of general pathology includes the cellular response to diseases and injuries such as inflammation, necrosis and wound healing, etc. (Spector, 1999, p. 236). Improvements in the study of pathology and eventually in the diagnosis process of a disease can cause many improvements in the treatment of that disease as well. Diagnostic tests need to be accurate and authentic in order to control the diseases from spreading and becoming uncontrollable. In many developing countries, these tests still lack quality and thus effect the patient management. The pathological study is a specialist area in science where the performance of the diagnostic tests are judged and observed clearly. The performance of these tests will be successfully achieved if the information and method of diagnosis is not biased. Inaccuracy is an obstacle to healthcare for the people who are severely infected but
